2020 UPDATES
November 17, 2020
May 26, 2020
Hello All!
The Deli team hopes you all are well. We also want to thank you for the love and support you have shown us over these past couple of months. What a time to be alive! I am grateful that we are a small business that is flexible and able to shift biz models as needed. And that y’all are along for the ride!
On Friday, May 22, 2020 at 5pm NC moved into its second phase of re-opening. This phase allows restaurants to open for indoor dining at 50% capacity. The Deli has decided to not open it’s dining room. We are too small to maintain safe social distancing. So we will continue curbside pickup – order and pay online, call us when you get here, 919-967-2185, and we will bring your order to you. You may sit outside at our picnic tables under these Orange County mandated restrictions:
- No more than 6 people to a table and these should be family or people you live with.
- Tables must be disinfected by Deli staff in between groups.
Orange County has also required all restaurant staff to wear masks, which our staff has done since the beginning. In addition, our staff will participate in the Count on Me NC evidence-based, public health official and food safety expert developed, Covid19 training and best practices for managing a business during this time. We take our health, our customers’ health, and the health of our business seriously. We will continue to stay connected with and updated by the Orange County Health Department and the Chapel Hill – Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, both deserve kudos for providing us all kinds of support – from loans and grants, to current Covid updates, to emotional encouragement. What a community we have here! I am so grateful to live in the Triangle.
To look forward to: We are developing Family Meals for y’all to order and so we can participate in Carrboro United again. Stay tuned for details. I am excited about this venture and looking forward to squeezing those creative juices.
Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram accounts for daily updates. Take good care!
April 18, 2020
Hello Everyone!
It has been great to see so many of you as you support us through our Covid19 business transition. We are now able to plan a week at a time instead of 48 hours at a time. So, our hours for next week, April 21-25, are T-Fri 12-2pm and Sat 9-2pm. We’ll see how it goes between demand, supply, and staff health with hopes of adopting this schedule for the next few weeks.
Our online store is updated regularly and that is where you can see what we offer for the day, place your order, and pay all on the same site.
Keep an eye on this page as well as our Facebook and Instagram accounts for the latest details. One day at a time and deep breaths. Take good care!

Thank you for everyone’s patience and support as we work on the safest way for us to continue to serve our beloved Carrboro community. Starting Friday, March 27, 2020 we will offer online ordering with curbside pick up only. No orders by phone or in store pickup. Curbside pickup is offered Tuesday and Thursday 12-2pm & Saturday 9-2pm. As you finalize your online order, be sure to check the box beside ‘Request Curbside Pickup’ as we are not currently offering in store pick up. To pick up your pre-order, pull directly in front of the Deli on South Greensboro Street in the Loading Zone and call to let us know you’re here, 919-967-2185. Your checkout receipt will remind you of this information.
About the menu – It. Is. Limited. We have a small selection of sandwiches T, Th, and Sat. Small selection of hot biscuits on Sat. And lots of Salads, Soups, Condiments, and Spreads T, Th, and Sat. We are starting small and hoping to grow it with demand. We plan to eventually offer pre-cooked meals and more nutritionally-dense items. This online ordering system is new to us. We welcome feedback! And again ask for your patience as we work out the kinks.
As you have heard, Orange County is under a Stay at Home Order as of 6pm Friday, March 27, 2020. Restaurants, thankfully, are still allowed to serve food. We will stay open as long as we are healthy and staff feels safe. About health, one reason we are not allowing in store pick up is to help lessen exposure for our staff and to keep the Deli sanitary. Our staff is very small right now 2-3 people which also controls exposure, we wash our hands every 30 minutes, and always wear gloves when working in the kitchen. We plan to take temperatures of each staff member before shifts, the owner included!
Many of you have asked about gift cards. We are now offering E Gift Cards which you can purchase here and use to pay for your order. You can also use your plastic Neal’s Deli gift cards at checkout, just punch in the card number on the back.
You can find Deli updates here on our website as well as on Facebook and Instagram. Thanks for hanging with us. We are Carrboro Strong!
